It often happens that a man is more humanely related to a cat or dog than to any human being.  ~Henry David Thoreau

adoption information

When you adopt a second chance pal out of foster care, one of the many benefits, in addition to the animal already having made a peaceful transistion from shelter life to home life, is that it will have already been spayed or neutered, microchipped, given a health check including rabies vaccination. Our goal is that this animal will be "good to go" to his/her forever home.

These are the steps to secure a successful adoption:

(1) Fill out an APPLICATION, specifying which pet you are interested in adopting and either bring in it into the shelter or scan and send via email to scp for approval.

(2) Make an appointment through the shelter by calling 423.442.1015 to have the pet you are interested in brought in so that you can meet and get to know the pet.

If you find the pet to be a good match for you and your family and your application has been approved, the adoption process can then move forward and you will need to

(3) Sign a CONTRACT with MCAS and

(4) Pay the adoption fee (dogs are $95, unless otherwise stated and depending on transportation needs; cats are $85).

PLEASE NOTE: IF THERE IS A SPECIFIC PET YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE CONTACT THE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.
We cannot guarantee that any of the pets will be available for adoption until the application has been approved, the adoption contract completed and the adoption fee paid.

If we know you are interested in a certain pet, we will do whatever we can to work with you. However, many times our pets will go into a rescue system and unfortunately, once that starts, it can be very difficult to hold that particular pet. It is wise to act quickly once you have made a decision.

Won't you please help us make a difference?
